They inspired us to continue to do the work that we do

Hilary Neal, LCNUK Member

This blog is part of our #LCNUK2022 series, sharing attendees experiences of our LCNUK Annual Conference.

It was great to be back face to face at the Lung Cancer Nursing UK Conference this year. It has been a long time since we have been able to all get together, network and share our experiences of Covid and developments within our teams.

The sessions were very interesting and informative. There was a lot of energy in the room during the Compassion Fatigue session which was very relevant. A great reminder to us all to take care of ourselves. The CBT Session was also useful, highlighting some practical skills to take back to work with us. It was great to have a mixture of speakers from different specialisms. The talk from Dr Tim Benepal and Dr Asanga Fernando was very refreshing and helpful to guide us on the use and management of steroids in lung cancer. Andrew Strauss and Cameron Millar stole the show at the end with fantastic talks giving us the patient and patient’s family experience. It was very humbling to listen to them and they inspired us to continue to do the work that we do.

The venue worked very well to allow for networking and being able to visit all the stalls. I really enjoyed the conference and look forward to next year.
