Lung Cancer Nursing UK is currently in the process of applying for charitable incorporated status (CIO). The benefits of becoming a CIO means that LCNUK will receive greater legal protection to safe-guard the organisation and the trustees as well as the commercial advantages of having a more business structured environment (e.g. able to enter into legal agreements with sponsors, suppliers). Members and trustees of the LCNUK will be personally safeguarded from any financial liability the charity may incur, which is not the case for unincorporated organisations such as ours.
