Following a career in Thoracic Medicine, Vanessa developed an interest in thoracic malignancies and joined the Lung Cancer Team at Liverpool Foundation Trust in 1999 as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. Vanessa’s interests in Lung Cancer and Mesothelioma include improving the patient and carer experience throughout the pathway, particularly interested in the development of nurse led services incorporating pre –post habitation. She has given invited presentations on both national and international level including Wellbeing; Holistic Needs and Surgical Pathway & Navigating pathways.
Vanessa served a full term on LCNUK committee with the last 3 years as chairperson. An active member of the Northwest LCNS group, she is a past member of BTOG steering group and former chair of the Thoracic Surgical Group. She also sat as a member of the IASLC subcommittee for Nurses and AHP’s, represented LCNS on the Global Lung Cancer Coalition and represented on specific national strategic groups.
