I recently had the opportunity to attend the annual Lung Cancer Nursing Conference, held in London, and I can honestly say it was one of the most educational, inspiring, and enjoyable professional experiences I’ve had.
The event brought together lung cancer nurses from across the UK, creating a vibrant and supportive environment where shared experiences, challenges, and innovations in cancer care took center stage. It was uplifting to be surrounded by so many passionate professionals committed to improving outcomes and support for patients with lung cancer.
Though-provoking sessions
The conference featured a range of thought-provoking sessions. Among the most that stood out for me were discussions on:
- Environmental factors and their role in cancer development
- The latest guidelines on circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA)
- Managing treatment-related toxicities
- Handling emotionally challenging conversations with patients and families
Each session was packed with relevant insights and practical strategies, reminding me of the ever-evolving nature of cancer care and the importance of staying informed and emotionally prepared.
An engaging and enjoyable atmosphere
It was also refreshing to find that, while the topics were deeply serious, the atmosphere remained engaging and enjoyable throughout.
I left the conference feeling recharged, better equipped, and more connected to the wider community of lung cancer nurses. I would wholeheartedly recommend this conference to any nurse involved in oncology care—whether you’re new to the field or a seasoned professional, there’s something valuable for everyone.
Without a doubt, I look forward to attending again next year!
