Farinaz Noorzad is Lead Pleural Nurse based in St. Georges University Hospital. She has a special interest in malignant pleural disease. She has been a Specialist pleural nurse since 2011. Farinaz developed a comprehensive pleural specialist nurse service, one of the first in the UK. She also developed a fully independent Nurse-led pleural intervention service providing thoracentesis, seldinger drains, and indwelling pleural catheters under ultrasound guidance. She has also mentored several interested nursing colleagues to start their independent services. Farinaz has been a vital member of a research group focused on improving the quality of life in malignant pleural effusion. She has several publications in this regard and was also a key member in developing the patient decision tool “https://mypleuraleffusionjourney.com/”. She was also a member of the British Thoracic Society Pleural disease guidelines.

The conference has been instigated and organised by LCNUK. Sponsors have contributed funding towards this event in return for exhibition space. They have had no input into the agenda or the selection of speakers with the exception of any sponsored symposia which are clearly indicated.
