Lavinia started her career in Thoracic Oncology in 1997 as a Clinical Research Nurse and Database Manager and retired as Nurse Consultant, Royal Papworth Hospital, in 2025. As a member of LCNUK she was awarded the first Research Interest Group Grant to consider the psycho-social impact of taking TKIs. In 2013 she became a committee member of LCNUK and was involved in developing the Using Your Voice workshops and Promoting Research in Oncology Nursing project. She represented LCNUK at the UK Lung Cancer Coalition and as a member of the LORD NCRI subgroup. A 6-year term as Board Member of Lung Cancer Europe ends April 2026. Lavinia remains on the Papworth Mesothelioma Social Group committee. She has given invited presentations at national and international level. She remains passionate regarding LCNUK goals, sharing expertise and governance to improve services for patients and their loved ones.

The conference has been instigated and organised by LCNUK. Sponsors have contributed funding towards this event in return for exhibition space. They have had no input into the agenda or the selection of speakers with the exception of any sponsored symposia which are clearly indicated.
