Almost two-thirds of nurses feel their mental health has deteriorated since the initial peak of the pandemic last spring and that national wellbeing support is still not good enough according to a Nursing Times survey.
The Nursing Times has also published an open access article summarising the evidence from four national studies which, in varying ways, highlight the importance of promoting the wellbeing of nursing team members. The article sets about about using research evidence to support nursing teams. It examines four studies that were undertaken following the two Francis inquiries into care failings at Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust and highlights the evidence about the importance of promoting team members’ wellbeing to optimise care in acute hospital settings, particularly in light of the
coronavirus pandemic.
