Dr Catherine Henshall is Associate Director of Nursing and Midwifery for the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) and is responsible for leading national strategies aimed at supporting nurses and midwives to support, deliver and lead research. She is Programme Director for the NIHR Senior Research Leader Programme for Nurses and Midwives and holds a clinical academic role in Oxford where she is a Reader in Nursing and Nursing , Midwifery and Allied Health Professional Lead for Research at Oxford Brookes University and Oxford Health NHS Trust. Catherine is Principal Investigator on numerous studies; her research focuses on nursing workforce development, cancer care and mental health. Cathy Chairs the Research Interest Group for Lung Cancer Nursing UK and sits on editorial boards for BMC Health Services Research and the Journal of Clinical Nursing. Her clinical background is in oncology nursing.
