Prehabilitation

Prehabilitation is commonly associated with surgery; however it is more commonly being used in the cancer setting to help prepare patients for treatment.  It is thought that prehabilitation can minimise side effects of treatment, speed up recovery and improve outcomes.  At present there are no hard and fast rules around what care should be delivered within a prehabilitation clinic.  However, Macmillan Cancer Support have published their ‘Principles and guidance for prehabilitation within the management and support of people with cancer’.  If you are thinking of setting up a prehabilitation clinic you may want to have a look at this document for some hints and tips about where to start.
