Make new connections at the LCNUK Conference

Sylvia Kefyalew, LCNUK Member

The 2023 LCNUK conference was the 4th I have attended and extremely worthwhile.

A great location in Birmingham, accessible on public transport and the programme was well chosen to include a variety of patient focused topics as well as updates on new trials and updates from BTOG which was helpful for those who hadn’t been able to attend.

It was thought provoking to kick off the day with a discussion about our role from the patients’ perspective. A reminder to me that we need to hear the quiet ones and to look out for the ones who won’t call. All the sessions were relevant to us and showcase the innovative work colleagues are doing as in Manchester with one stop lung cancer clinics or sharing practical tips about managing side effects of precision medicine to useful suggestions to support the “emotional patient”. Seeing all the hard work put into by those producing posters to demonstrate their passion for their roles is another benefit of attending.

Attending the conference always provides CNS’s, myself included the opportunity network, make new connections with fellow colleagues as well as our industry colleagues who do so much to support us in our roles.
