Professor Sam Hare is a Consultant Cardiothoracic Radiologist and Chief Executive Officer of the HLH Imaging Group (HLH) – a UK network of subspecialist cardiothoracic radiologists that is the largest provider of lung cancer screening radiology reporting for the NHS England Lung Cancer Screening programme. He is also a Professor of Thoracic Radiology and past NHS England National Specialty Advisor for Imaging (2020 – 2024).

Sam has won several industry awards for lung cancer diagnostics, including the inaugural NHS Innovation Challenge Prize for Cancer and BMJ Cancer Team of the Year. Sam pioneered ambulatory lung biopsy in the UK and has frequently featured in national media. He has specialist expertise in AI-powered lung cancer screening and complex lung biopsy. Sam is also passionate about service transformation and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in optimising diagnostic imaging workflows, particularly the seamless deployment of AI in imaging across large-scale population health screening programmes.
