In collaboration with DaSH Global, we have developed a new digital ‘Health Companion’ which enables patients to submit data regarding their quality of life and experiences in the management of lung cancer as well as any costs associated with the condition. The programme has previously been piloted as part of a study for Mesothelioma UK and adapted for lung cancer.  We urge you to get involved and support this initiative.

LCNUK is calling for research abstracts and examples of best practice/service development for inclusion in the 2022 LCNUK national conference. Encore abstracts also welcomed. All accepted abstracts will be invited to submit digital poster and video presentation of work. Prizes for best abstract and best poster.

The UKLCC has published a new report looking beyond the pandemic and providing a series of recommendations which offer a 'route back' to delivering their 2016 objective to drive up the five-year survival of lung cancer to 25% by 2025.

The University of Surrey has announced two new places on their HEE/NIHR funded ICA programme (research internship). If you are an AHP or nurse interested in a clinical academic career, please apply by 12th December for a January 2022 start. Backfill is available and the course is virtual, with some opportunity for face to face if desired. 

We are pleased to share a new learning resource that has been designed to support colleagues in their understanding of the different areas of research. Through the use of interactive flashcards, learners will be able to compare and contrast the differences and similarities in clinical health research, social care research and public health research. The Global Lung Cancer Coalition 2022 patient experience survey for the UK is now live. The survey will be open until the end of January. This is the third survey conducted to understand patients’ experiences after being diagnosed with lung cancer. This year, GLCC would like to know if COVID-19 is still impacting the care received, and patient experience of lung cancer screening.

Following the announcement that current lead, Jenny Mitchell, plans to step down in 2022, LCNUK is seeking expressions of interest from members interested in chairing our thoracic surgical sub-group. The LCNUK Thoracic Surgical Group is involved in the production and dissemination of information and guidance in relation to thoracic surgery. The group meets at least three times a year and funding is provided to support travel expenses. Interested members should in the first instance email us to express their interest.

LCNUK is seeking expressions of interest from individuals based in Wales who would be willing to act as the LCNUK Welsh Ambassador and represent the organisation on relevant Welsh boards/committees.
