As part of its 20th anniversary, the National Lung Cancer Forum for Nurses (NLCFN) will be launching the new name and brand at this year's conference. In preparation you will see we have now updated the website. The formal announcement and press release will take place on 15 November 2019.

The latest UKLCC report, Pathways Matter, discusses the aims of the National Optimal Lung Cancer Pathway and highlights its achievements to date as well as exploring the challenges yet to overcome. 

A recent report has shown an increase in age-standardised 5-yar net survival from 7.2% in 1995 to 14.7% in 2014. In patients under 75 years survival has increased from 8.9% to 17.4%. However, the report shows significant disparities in survival across the seven countries reviewed.

Two specialist nurses are now working with the Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) programme to support a national review into services for lung cancer patients. LCNUK members Victoria Anderson and Monica Hugh have been appointed to the posts.

On behalf of the IASLC Nursing & Allied Health Professionals committee, we invite you to take part in a survey exploring the research priorities in the care of patients with thoracic malignancies (ie. lung cancer, mesothelioma, etc) within our disciplines. The results from this survey will be used to inform the development of research priorities in the Nursing & Allied Health Professionals  research committee of the IASLC and the research agenda of the wider lung cancer/thoracic malignancies community.  The suvey takes approx 10 minutes to complete.

You can register now for the 18th BTOG annual conference to be held at the Clayton Hotel, Dublin on 29th - 31st January 2020. The conference includes over 70 presentations, panel discussions, satellite symposia and subgroup updates.
